Big in mini vegetables: Greenco makes healthy snacking tasty

Greenco is seen as the inventor of snack vegetables. With their well-known tomato line Tommies, they have since gained worldwide fame. One of the reasons that healthy snacking nowadays is becoming quite ordinary is therefore in the middle of the Westland. Greenco in Honselersdijk has developed into a specialist of snack vegetables in almost twenty years.

It is now almost fifteen years since Greenco started with the leading Tommies. Jos van Mil, co-owner of Greenco and together with brother-in-law Ab van Marrewijk the inventor of the Tommies, looks back on it blissfully: "The candy tomatoes were our breakthrough", he says enthusiastically. "Not only the marketing, but also the product itself is good. For example, we have the same type of tomatoes all year round and the quality is constant. These are grown in the Netherlands in the summer and in Spain in winter."

Greenco currently has 27 hectares of exposed cultivation and 17 hectares of unexposed cultivation in the Netherlands, spread over the cultivation sites in Honselersdijk (South Holland) and Someren and Helenaveen (North Brabant). In addition, they still have 33 hectares in Spain, which helps to deliver constant quality candy tomatoes in the year round. The small plum tomatoes are firm and sweet in taste. It is the snack tomato that ensures that healthy snacking is absolutely no punishment. In addition to the famous Tommies, Greenco is also responsible for our snack peppers and snack cucumbers.
