Daphne's Moestuin Grows Microgreens
Daphne’s Moestuin cultivates cresses (microgreens) in the most natural way possible and with a minimal ecological footprint. The latest vertical farming techniques are combined with traditional growing principles, all to benefit the tiny plants. Everything is focused on offering a range of the highest quality. To provide customers with even more premium products, the company collaborates with De Schorreblomme for the supply of saline vegetables and edible flowers.
The cresses from Daphne’s Moestuin are lovingly cultivated in vertical growing racks. The sowing and harvesting of the cresses are deliberately done by hand. The cresses grow in vital soil, rich in essential minerals and beneficial bacteria, allowing the plants to grow optimally and absorb nutrients. This results in cresses that are packed with flavor, minerals, and vitality.
The latest techniques are used, with natural conditions being mimicked as closely as possible. "With our daylight-spectrum lamps, we replicate the sun as realistically as possible. In addition, just like in nature, the cresses also get a night’s rest. This causes them to grow a bit slower, but they become much stronger as a result."
"Daphne’s Moestuin was founded in January 2022 by Daphne and her husband Eelco. Together, they developed a kitchen garden with a unique cultivation principle. They soon took the step of building a grow cabinet in which Daphne began growing cresses. The cresses turned out to be a great success. "Chefs told us the flavor of our cresses is more intense, and the shelf life is longer than usual. The contact with our customers is very valuable and motivates us to continuously improve and expand." Demand grew so much that Daphne and Eelco decided to set up a vertical growing space in the former primary school in Ellemeet (Schouwen-Duiveland). "We furnished the growing room with our self-developed cultivation racks."
"Only the best quality is good enough. You can taste it, you can feel it, and you’ll notice it in the long shelf life." In addition to cresses, Daphne’s Moestuin also offers saline vegetables and edible saline flowers, which are naturally grown by their partner De Schorreblomme from Kerkwerve (Schouwen-Duiveland).
