Van Vugt Herbs is a family-owned business specializing in the cultivation and packaging of fresh herbs and edible flowers. Founder and owner Piet van Vugt grew up in a horticultural family. Today, his children and son-in-law are also active in the company. “It’s fantastic to work together in the family business and share our passion for herbs. “Since 2019, we have been located on Hoogzandweg in Ridderkerk, just two minutes away from Van Gelder. In our new facility, we use a gas-free greenhouse heating system that utilizes solar panels and residual heat from the cooling units to heat the greenhouse, demo greenhouse, and office spaces. This makes us a 100% emission-free company.”

The collaboration between Van Gelder and Van Vugt Herbs started long ago and continues to grow stronger every day. Six days a week, they supply Van Gelder with fresh herbs and edible flowers—from well-known varieties like mint and coriander to lesser-known ones like pineapple sage and savory. Edible flowers have also become indispensable in the hospitality industry. “Our full range of edible flowers and specialty herbs is grown in our greenhouse in Ridderkerk. Now that’s what we call minimal food miles!”
