Big on Mini Vegetables: Greenco Makes Healthy Snacking Delicious

Greenco is seen as the inventor of snack vegetables. With their well-known tomato line, Tommies, they have gained worldwide recognition. One of the reasons that healthy snacking is becoming more common today is rooted right in the heart of Westland. Greenco in Honselersdijk has developed into a specialist in snack vegetables over nearly twenty years.

It’s almost fifteen years ago that Greenco started with the leading Tommies. Jos van Mil, co-owner of Greenco and, together with his brother-in-law Ab van Marrewijk, the inventor of the Tommies, looks back with joy: “The snack tomatoes were our breakthrough,” he says enthusiastically. “Not only the marketing but also the product itself is great. We have the same type of tomatoes year-round, and the quality is constant. These are grown in the summer in the Netherlands and in the winter in Spain.”

Currently, Greenco has 27 hectares of lit cultivation and 17 hectares of unlit cultivation in the Netherlands, spread across growing locations in Honselersdijk (South Holland) and Someren and Helenaveen (North Brabant). In addition, they have another 33 hectares in Spain, which helps in delivering a constant quality of snack tomatoes year-round. The small plum tomatoes are firm and deliciously sweet in taste. It’s the snack tomato that makes healthy snacking an absolute treat. Besides the well-known Tommies, Greenco is also responsible for our snack peppers and snack cucumbers.
